A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman was stabbed to death in Staffordshire, in what her family are calling a 'terrible sudden loss'.
Lucy Clews was pronounced dead by paramedics after police were called to a home in West Chadsmoor, following concerns for the welfare of a woman at 12.40am on Wednesday.
A post mortem found the cause of the 39-year-old's death to be as a result of multiple stab wounds, Staffordshire Police said.
A 26-year-old man, of no fixed abode, has been arrested on suspicion of murder. He remains in police custody.
Lucy's family are being supported by specially-trained officers, and in a statement they said: 'We are suffering the terrible sudden loss of a very special granddaughter, daughter and sister.
'Lucy will never be replaced in our hearts and will forever live in our memories.
'We ask for our privacy to be respected as we come to terms with what has happened.'
Detective Inspector Cheryl Hannan, of the force's Major Investigation Department, said: 'If you have any information about Lucy's movements over the Christmas period, please get in touch.
'Did you see her in the Cannock area or hear from her?'
