A group of campers came within inches of being crushed to death by a falling tree during a New Year's holiday in Victoria.
The tree fell at the Yarrawonga Common camping ground, crushing a Subaru Outback 4WD and a tent, but luckily no one was injured.
Concerned campers said the near-death incident was a good reminder not to park underneath big or old trees - which are more likely to fall over on windy nights.
Experts warn that trees can fall without warning at anytime, and can be particularly prone to coming down when they are stressed by hot summer weather or heavy rain.
