A COUPLE have revealed how they took a ridiculous leap of faith by buying an abandoned school and turning it into their dream home.
Stacie and Sean, from the US, have two children and shared the transformation on YouTube.
Stacie said: "We took a leap, arguably a ridiculous one, and bought an old school in the middle of Indiana's finest cornfields to turn into our home."
The couple grew up in Indiana but moved to New York to make money.
Stacie and Sean decided to buy the abandoned school for £138,000 - despite not viewing it in person.
They revealed it was rundown and needed a lot of work but the couple wasn't afraid to get stuck in.
The family have now lived in the school for five months, but there's still plenty of work to do.
"Every time we think we're done with anything, the schoolhouse assigns us more homework," said the mum.
The school had eight classrooms altogether, four upstairs and four downstairs in the basement.
The four upstairs rooms have now been converted into bedrooms for the family.
They first started by changing the stairs up to the school into a stunning giant porch with large window doors.
Stacie decided to make custom mosaic floors of the school name inside to keep some of the history of the building.
Keeping in line with the original school, they painted the walls in the original colours used when the building was first built and added a vintage chalkboard to the hallway.
One of the classrooms was also transformed into the kitchen which was super spacious.
The family kitted it out with a large dining table as well as a huge kitchen island.
They turned another classroom into the living room with a large maroon sofa in the middle.
Another classroom was turned into the master bedroom with an ensuite and built-in wardrobes.
The final upstairs classroom had been divided and was turned into her children's room.
Stacie then went downstairs to show off the basement. When they first moved in one of the doors had an eery message written on it saying 'the dungeon.'
She decided to keep the door but transformed the inside into an incredible playroom for her kids.
The room was kitted out with swings, slides and a trampoline.
The mum added: "The dungeon is the best room in the basement, and when the kids are driving me nuts, there is a little thrill of delight in saying, 'That's it, you two, get your down to the dungeon.'"
The YouTube video went viral on their account, Schoolhouse Homestead, with over 2 million views and 57k likes.
People were quick to take to the comments praising the pair for their house transformation.
One person wrote: "Jawdropping!!! Y'all are truly, truly gutsy masters at tackling this unfathomable transformation!"
Another commented: “THANK YOU for not demolishing this building. You can never replace the history, the craftsmanship and the architectural uniqueness of old buildings."
"Truly Amazing transformation. I love all the recycled, upcycled touches," penned a third.
Meanwhile a fourth said: "Oh man, I think every parent should have a dungeon. That playroom is fantastic. Inside swings, trampoline and homemade tunnels. Heck, I would be down there more than the kids."
"Truthfully, you guys are giving your kids the greatest home to grow up in. I've passed many such schools and have thought about this,” claimed a fifth.
Someone else added: “I love, love, love the renovation! It’s so nice to see a redo with a theme in mind that honors the history of the building."
