Trey Songz's NYE concert at the Chicago Theatre has been postponed

Trey Songz's New Year's Eve concert has been postponed over concerns about the spread of COVID-19.

The announcement about the 37-year-old singer's show, which was set to take place at the Chicago Theatre, was posted to Yung Fly Entertainment's Instagram account on Thursday.

The production company also wrote a short message in the post's caption that partially read: 'NEW DATE TO BE ANNOUNCED REAL SOON ! STAY TUNED …'

Songz, born Tremaine Aldon Neverson, also reposted the image to his own Instagram Story and added crying and masked-up emojis.

The performer previously tested positive for COVID-19 in October of last year and made an announcement about his health with a video that was shared on his Instagram account.

The singer was upfront about being very socially active during the pandemic in his clip and expressed that he was regularly screened for the coronavirus.

'I've taken many tests as I've been out protesting, food drives, of course I have a young son at home, so I get tested periodically and this time unfortunately it came back positive,' he said.

Songz went on to express that he would take all available precautions to isolate himself during his recovery process.

'I will be taking it seriously, I will be self-quarantining. I will be in my house until I see a negative sign,' he stated.

He then encouraged his fans to do their best to remain COVID-conscious during his message, stating: 'I've always taken it serious. If you come in contact with COVID, please do the same.'

Songz went on to reference former president Donald Trump's lax attitude towards the coronavirus, stating: 'Don't be like the president.'

The performer's most recent album, entitled Back Home, was made available to the public this past October.

Several other figures from the hip-hop world, including Swae Lee and Ty Dolla Sign, made appearances on the studio release.

The project was made available to the public on October 9th, and it currently holds three stars out of five on AllMusic.

The studio release went on to peak at the number 15 spot on the Billboard 200 chart.
