Tourist goes missing while jet skiing in Thailand

Nina Ng, 37, rented a jet ski in the island of Phuket on Thursday afternoon and disappeared shortly after, ViralPress reported.

Ng’s jet ski was found and ‘her belongings and life jacket were on it’ but she was nowhere to be seen, the jet ski rental operator Saranuwat Nasok told ViralPress.

‘I asked a boat driver working in the area, and he said he saw the tourist take off her life jacket to jump into the water,’ said Nasok.

He added that he called friends for help and they looked for Ng for an hour but had no success.

Divers and rescuers with local law enforcement searched for her where she went missing around Patong Beach.

Her backpack, cell phone, credit card, cash and a water bottle were recovered.

Ng, of New Springville, Staten Island, also served as president of the non-profit organization Help Me Live USA, which she founded in 2023 and provides medical and humanitarian aid to the Middle East.

According to the charity, Ng worked for more than 15 years as a hospital administrator, an emergency medicine registered nurse and a humanitarian leader. She served in ‘numerous conflict settings and war zones including Haiti, Iraq, Bangladesh, Mexico, Ukraine, Sierra Leone, and Gaza’.

‘Several years ago, Ms Ng left the hospital setting in the United States in order to dedicate more of her time to humanitarian aid,’ stated the charity.

‘Her calling to help underserved populations has been so strong that she founded her own non-profit organization.’

An Instagram page that appears to belong to Ng showed recent posts from Jordan and Lebanon.

The reason that Ng disappeared is not known. The US Embassy in Thailand did not immediately comment on her case.
