Tottenham have issued an update on Rodrigo Bentancur.
In a statement on X, Spurs said: "We can confirm Rodrigo is conscious, talking and will go to hospital for further checks."
Bentancur went down in the eighth minute of Spurs' Carabao Cup semi-final clash with Liverpool on Wednesday (January 8) evening. The Uruguayan had been attacking a corner for the Lilywhites when he stooped for a header, but failed to make contact with the ball.
Pedro Porro was quick to stop his team-mate didn't get up after falling to the crowd and his distraught team-mates waved on medical personnel to try and aid their fallen team-mate. There was a lengthy stoppage as the game came to a halt while Bentancur received treatment.
Sky Sports opted not to show any replays of the incident.
The midfielder was administered with oxygen as doctors aided him for a stoppage of around ten minutes. Bentancur was then transferred onto a stretcher as Brennan Johnson was sent on by Ange Postecoglou as his replacement.
Johnson moved out onto the right-wing as Dejan Kulusevski came central.
Play was then resumed with a Spurs corner, that Liverpool's Brazilian shot-stopper Alisson smothered with ease. Sky Sports issued their own update at half-time, telling viewers that Bentancur remained at the stadium with doctors who had taken him off the pitch.
Liverpool and Spurs' Carabao Cup clash had a further stoppage after an injury to the Reds' defender Jarell Quansah - who was also forced to leave the action early. It all resulted in 11 minutes of stoppage time at the end of the first-half.
The two sides are looking to get their hands on the first silverware of the season - with the winning of the two-legs going onto face either Arsenal or Newcastle at Wembley later this year.
