Child safety experts have shared a series of eye-opening photos which show exactly what can happen if you allow your kids to charge their devices in bed.
The five images uploaded by Facebook page CPR Kids show a burnt and bent iPhone cable next to a set of singed sheets.
The smouldering sheets took just minutes to go from singed to burning as mattresses and other bedding materials are highly flammable.
'Did your children receive a tablet or phone for Christmas? Make sure they never charge electronics in bed,' the poignant post reads.
They should instead be charged on a flat surface, away from flammable materials.
Any charging cables that are fraying or old should be replaced to avoid catching alight.
'Damaged cords and charging in unsafe conditions can pose an electrocution and fire risk,' the post continued.
And all cords should be kept out of reach of babies and toddlers.
The same guidelines, which are usually included in manufacturers instructions, are also recommended for adults.
The post was heard loud and clear by parents who had gifted their kids devices during the festive season.
Many tagged their partners and hundreds shared the information on their personal Facebook pages.
Some weren't afraid to call out their significant others.
'See I tell you, never charge in bed,' one woman said to her partner.
While another criticised hers: 'You are bad for this.'
