Afghan President Babrak Karmal said Muslim guerrillas fighting his communist government have caused $700 million worth of damage since the resistance began in 1978. Spesking at celebrations in Kabul marking the 20th anniversary of the Afghan Communist Party, Karmal said the moujahedeen have destriyed 1,814 schools, 31 hospitals, 11 health centers and 960 farmers’ cooperatives.
