The Intercept announces the launch of The Intercept Briefing, a new weekly podcast designed to deliver incisive political analysis and deep investigative reporting to audio audiences. The show features The Intercept’s journalists offering unique perspectives and original reporting on the most pressing issues globally.

The Intercept has produced several award-winning podcasts in its 10-year history including Intercepted, Deconstructed, Murderville, and Somebody, the latter in partnership with the Invisible Institute, which was named a Pulitzer Prize finalist and won a National Magazine Award.

“Through The Intercept Briefing podcast, our hard-hitting investigations now have a powerful new voice. This isn’t just another news podcast — it’s journalism that demands to be heard. With The Intercept Briefing, we’re amplifying our reporting at a moment when democracy itself is under assault around the world,” said CEO Annie Chabel.

Building on The Intercept’s robust podcast audience, the show invites listener participation on social platforms. The show is being led by chief strategy officer Sumi Aggarwal who is serving as executive producer, and Laura Flynn, The Intercept’s supervising podcast producer. Flynn led production on several major series for The Intercept, including Season Two of Murderville, a nine-episode investigation into a Texas wrongful conviction case; No Way Home, chronicling the Taliban’s takeover of Kabul, Afghanistan; and Dissent, an examination of key Supreme Court cases in the 2023 term. Aggarwal has extensive audio experience, overseeing the newsroom behind the Reveal radio show and podcast before she joined The Intercept.

The podcast debuted on November 2 and will be available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and all other major podcast platforms.
