Sunday Brunch host says fans still get in touch over 'controversial' show moment

Simon Rimmer confessed he doesn't always get it right when it comes to some of his Sunday Brunch food offerings, admitting there is one dish he still faces backlash over.

The 61-year-old chef, who appears alongside co-host Tim Lovejoy, 56, on the Channel 4 show, was in conversation with G'Wed actor Jake Kenny-Byrne, who features in the Liverpool-set ITV comedy series.

As they chatted about Jake's big move from down south to the vibrant city of Liverpool, the actor shared his experiences of immersing himself in the local culture and the activities he's enjoyed since making the city his home.

He expressed his fondness for Liverpool but mentioned to the hosts that he hadn't yet tried the local delicacy "Scouse" despite recommendations from many residents.

Catching on to an opportunity, Tim remarked: "Ahh we should have got Simon to make it for you," which led to Simon dropping a bombshell about the uproar caused by his take on the classic stew when he made it on Sunday Brunch, reports the Express.

Simon admitted: "Well yeah, but I made it on the show once and it's the most controversial dish I have ever made on the show." He continued: "People still now tell me, I got it wrong."

Meanwhile, elsewhere in the show that aired on March 2nd, there was much chaos to be had with various guests vanishing off set and one person failing to show up until the very last few minutes of the programme.

At one awkward moment in the episode, Tim and Simon had been left with just three guests on-air which is just half of the panel fans would normally expect to see.

On the show was TOWIE star Megan McKenna, Jake Kenny-Byrne, writer Liz Pichon, singer Antony Szmierek and author Jon Ronson.

However, eyebrows were raised as Selling Sunset's Bre Tiesi was absent on the show despite being listed to appear.

It wasn't until well into the episode that host Tim had to interject with an update. He reported: "Breaking news Bre from Selling Sunset is in the car and she's at the hotel."

Tim clarified the hiccup by telling viewers: "For anyone that doesn't know Bre was supposed to be on the show this morning but she went to the BRITs last night and so she is going to turn up, when she turns up but she's a friend of ours, so we don't mind."

With a touch of humour, he hoped aloud: "We just hope she manages to make it at some stage."

The situation became more chaotic as Megan McKenna suddenly left her seat. Tim explained to the audience: "Sorry Megan has just had to step away to feed Landon [her baby son], which is why she's now missing."

Adding to the day's unpredictable events, Jon Ronson also disappeared without a word. The good news came when Bre finally arrived, and by then both Megan and Jon returned to the fray.

The Selling Sunset celeb made quite the entrance, turning up on set a whopping two and a half hours after filming had kicked off. With just half an hour left on the clock, the reality sensation breezed in, apologising to the hosts with: "I am so unwell, sorry guys," before admitting she'd had more drinks than anticipated and got home in the early hours of the morning.
