Strictly live tour halted due to Storm Eowyn chaos as BBC judge breaks silence

A Strictly tour show has been cancelled due to Storm Eowyn.

Eowyn has already brought wind speeds of 183km (114mph) to the UK. A top-level red warning for wind is in place in both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland from early on Friday morning (January 24) and this has now been extended to parts of Scotland.

The storm has disrupted public transport amid powerful gusts, with warnings of danger to life, fallen electric lines, damaged infrastructure and widespread power outages. There have been warnings not to travel in Northern Ireland and Scotland.

And now, unfortunately, it's put a dent in the Strictly Come Dancing Live Tour. The BBC show has been travelling across the UK but its show at Glasgow's OVO Hydro on Friday night (January 24) has now been postponed due to the red warning that has been issued about the storm.

The storm has affected transport in Glasgow as train and bus services have been suspended, following warnings about the storm. Strictly tour bosses have now made the decision to move the show to Sunday instead.

Strictly judge Craig Revel Horwood, who joins Motsi Mabuse, Shirley Ballas and Anton Du Beke on the panel, announced the news on Instagram and apologised to fans for the inconvenience. In a statement on Friday, he wrote: "UPDATE. Sadly, Due to the red weather warning in place tomorrow, the Friday evening performance of Strictly Come Dancing The Live Tour will be rescheduled to Sunday evening, 26 January.

"Doors will open at 17.30 and the performance will start at 18.30. Original tickets remain valid for this show. If guests are unable to attend, they should contact their point of purchase for a refund. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause."

A spokesperson for the show added: "Due to the red weather warning in place tomorrow, the Friday evening performance of Strictly Come Dancing The Live Tour will be rescheduled to Sunday evening, 26 January". Organisers said: "We are sorry for any inconvenience caused."

The likes of Tasha Ghouri, Jamie Borthwick, Sarah Hadland, Wynne Evans and JB Gill are on the line-up for this year's Strictly tour. Show pros Kai Widdrington, Amy Dowden, Vito Coppola and Nancy Xu are also involved.
