Stephanie Beacham says Playboy pictures cost her '$1 million'

Stephanie Beacham has said that unearthed Playboy photographs in 1987 lost her $1million in work.

The actress, 78, had been shot for the magazine in the early 1970s, but the photos were published at the time Beacham was Sable Colby in Dynasty.

Speaking in an interview with The Telegraph, she said: “[They] lost me a $1 million make-up contract. I can’t remember who with…”

She told The Mirror in 2023 that she was “blacklisted” by the industry for refusing to pose nude for the magazine.

Beacham is starring in Grey Matter, a UK independent film directed by Arabella Burfitt-Dons, about a woman diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.

Her father, Alec, who died in 1999, also had the disease. “He didn’t understand anything, didn’t know it was us, was blind and deaf and could be quite scary if you tried to stroke his hand,” she told the publication.

“He was wearing nappies. Alzheimer’s is a foul disease.”

Beacham had her big break in 1971 horror film The Nightcomers with Marlon Brando and went on to star in Dracula A.D. 1972, And Now The Screaming Starts! and House Of Mortal Sin.

She is best known for Dynasty as glamorous Sable Colby opposite Dame Joan Collins and the spin-off The Colbys.

In Coronation Street, Beacham, as Martha Fraser, had a romance with Ken Barlow (William Roache) in 2009, returning briefly as the character in 2022.

In 2024, Beacham spoke about the terrifying moment an armed burglary raided her west London home, admitting she thought she was “going to die”.

Wilson, from Glasgow, threatened the British actress with a two-foot metal bar and was jailed for a total of 10 years and five months in February 2023 after pleading guilty to the London aggravated burglary and a separate burglary in Sheffield.

Beacham was ordered to hand over her money and jewellery after confronting burglar David Wilson in Bayswater on October 25 2022.

“He leapt up the stairs and then there it was, a crowbar, over my head, and then the corny dialogue, ‘Give me your money, give me your jewellery, don’t look at me, I wish you weren’t here’.

“I thought ‘oh, I think I’m going to die’ and I was an absolute wimp, total wimp, and I gave him my money,” she told Good Morning Britain.
