Axel Rudakubana said “I’m glad they’re dead” as he was held in a custody suite after killing three girls in a knife attack at a Southport dance class, Liverpool Crown Court has heard.
The 18-year-old is set to be sentenced today in Liverpool after pleading guilty to killing children Alice da Silva Aguiar, nine, Bebe King, six, and Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven, at a Taylor Swift dance party last summer. The other charges encompassed attempted murder of 10 individuals and possession of an Al Qaeda terror manual, along with producing ricin.
Ursula Doyle, Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor with CPS Mersey-Cheshire, described the incident as "an unspeakable attack" that Rudakubana had "meticulously planned".
She continued: "It is clear that this was a young man with a sickening and sustained interest in death and violence", adding, "He has shown no sign of remorse."
The revelation comes after the sick child killer was removed from the dock earlier today when he shouted in court. "I can't remain quiet. I haven't eaten for 10 days. I feel ill. I'm not going to remain quiet," he was heard yelling.
The judge has now said the have to brought back in this afternoon after the court has taken a break.
Despite Rudakubana set to avoid being handed a life sentence because of his age when the crime was committed, a parent of one of the survivors of a brutal attack voiced that exceptional measures should be considered, due to the nature of his crimes.
The father, whose name is withheld to protect his child's identity, told the Sun: "Axel should rot in jail. He was only a few days off his 18th birthday when he committed these most horrendous offences.
"Why should he be spared a whole-life tariff when he hasn't spared a thought for any of the victims' families? Life should mean life. Even if he gets 40 years, it's not enough. He could be out to enjoy the latter part of his life. The three little girls he murdered can't do that. If that means the law needs changing, so be it."
