Rupert Grint shares his experience of becoming a father

Rupert Grint has revealed his fears after welcoming his daughter Wednesday, admitting he would constantly check on her breathing when she was asleep.

The Harry Potter star, 33, told Entertainment Tonight: 'I don't want to go too into detail, but the first night was just terrifying. You can't sleep at all, just constantly checking that she's breathing.'

Rupert welcomed his daughter with Georgia Groome back in 2020, and shared a sweet snap of their baby to his Instagram page in November of last year.

He continued: 'Sleeping, in general, for me, is something I've really struggled with. I think as a kid, people always said, "They died in their sleep," so I always thought sleep was a really dangerous, dangerous thing.'

He also said that being a father to the daughter he shares with actress Georgia was all he really cared about and has changed his perspective.

Rupert was promoting the third season of Apple TV+'s thriller Servant, in which he plays the brother of a TV reporter who heartbreakingly loses her 13-week-old son.

Since becoming a dad himself, the star admitted that 'kind of level of loss is unimaginable.'

He said: '[Fatherhood], it's definitely changed my perspective. Since becoming a dad, kind of midway through, just to really have a better sense of what that can do to a family, that kind of level of loss is unimaginable.

Rupert is set to appear in the HBO Max/Sky reunion of the Harry Potter cast on New Year's Day.

He admitted in the show that he almost quit the Harry Potter franchise as he couldn't take the pressure of being a child star.

Him and Emma Watson agreed that it all got too much at some points and said: 'I think I was scared. I don't know if you ever felt like it got to a tipping point where you were like, "This is kind of forever now."'

'It was around the time of Order of the Phoenix when things started getting spicy for all of us,' she continued of the 2007 blockbuster which she filmed aged 16.

Rupert chimed in: 'I also had sort of similar feelings to Emma, contemplating what life would be like if I called it a day.

'We never really spoke about it. I guess we were just going through it at our own pace, we were kind of in the moment at the time.

'It just didn't really occur to us that we were all probably kind of having similar feelings.'
