Ruben Amorim drops Man Utd vs Fulham team hint as he sends Andre Onana message

Cup football is on the agenda for Manchester United, with the Premier League on pause until next weekend.

The Red Devils host Fulham at Old Trafford on Sunday in the FA Cup fifth round, and they're one of the only teams they've beaten twice this season. A place in the quarter-finals is up for grabs and Ruben Amorim will know just how important a win could be.

On Thursday, United travel to Spain for the first leg of their Europa League last-16 clash with Real Sociedad. Both competitions could go a long way towards defining Amorim's first season as United manager, but he'll need to get his team selections right.

Here's a round-up of the latest news from Old Trafford.

Obi set for FA Cup opportunity

Manchester United academy hotshot Chido Obi is expected to at least be on the bench for Sunday's FA Cup tie - and he could start. The 17-year-old, who signed from Arsenal last summer, has been scoring for fun at youth level and recently made two substitute appearances for the first-team.

Both of those were away from home, so Sunday could be his first taste of playing at Old Trafford. That's because Obi was left out of United's under-18 side who faced Arsenal in the FA Youth Cup on Friday, with a 3-2 win booking their place in the semi-finals.

Amorim's three-word message to Onana

Ruben Amorim has told struggling Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana to 'forget the past' ahead of likely dropping him against Fulham. Onana, who the Red Devils paid £47million for in 2023, has made a string of errors this season, including a mix-up with Patrick Dorgu on Wednesday which led to Ipswich taking the lead.

Although Altay Bayindir is set to get the nod against Fulham, having played the previous two rounds, Amorim had a message for Onana during his pre-match press conference. "We just have to support Andre, like we support all the players, and prepare the next game," the United boss said. "Forget about the past and prepare the future."

Ex-Man Utd star fuels the fire

Fulham midfielder Andreas Pereira believes that Manchester United were 'a little lucky' to beat them in their two Premier League fixtures this season. Pereira, 29, returns to Old Trafford hoping to help Fulham to a famous win, having lost against United in the FA Cup quarter-finals in 2023.

But Brazilian has risked the wrath of United's fans by telling FFCTV pre-match: "We played United twice this season and maybe they came out a little lucky. We learned a lot from these two games and I'm sure the players have extra fire in the belly to go against them."

Pereria added: "It's a special game, a special place for everyone I think... I'm looking forward to it. For me, it's going to be a particularly special game. We still have the feeling from the first year I was here, what happened. For sure, we're going to be prepared for everything."
