Roadworks on Branston Interchange to end in April

Work on a multimillion-pound scheme to upgrade a major junction in Staffordshire is set to be completed in April.

The improvements, carried out by Staffordshire County Council, aim to ease congestion and increase capacity at the A38 Branston Interchange, near Burton-upon-Trent.

Additional lanes will be created around the junction, on the slip roads, on Branston Road and on Parkway, along with new traffic lights.

The £8m scheme was partly funded by £6m from the previous government's Levelling Up Fund.

First starting in February 2024, the series of works have led to disruption around the junction for more than a year.

However, work to the roundabout at Branston Road and a section of Parkway - the final phase of the project - is now set to get under way.

A series of overnight closures will now take place between 3 March to 4 April, between Mondays and Fridays.

The closures will take place between 20:00 and 06:00 GMT.

By the end of April all traffic management will be removed and the new signals operational Staffordshire County Council said.
