Reddit and Airbnb are among a long list of websites that have been reported as "down" by a site that reports power outages.
According to Downdetector, problems users on Reddit have reported leapt from five to 3,733 in the space of half an hour, after the problems started kicking off at just past 8pm today (January 14).
"Downdetector only reports an incident when the number of problem reports is significantly higher than the typical volume for that time of day," reads an explainer on Downdetector.
On Downdetector, Airbnb also appears to be struggling with reports of faults leaping from zero to 554 over the same time period as Reddit.
On the site Down Detector, users lamented the tech issue. "What the hell am I supposed to to at work?" one asked.
Twitter users also commented on the outage. One wrote: "Reddit is down, me running to twitter to check."
"Is #Reddit down yall or just me?" Another said, while one wrote: "Reddit is down right now for anyone trying to get in… #reddit".
When trying to access the site, users are hit with the message "internal sever error" or are told their account doesn't exist, reports the Irish Star.
It's not the first time the site has broken. In October last year the site also suffered an outage.
It marks the third time in less than five months that the popular forum-based website Reddit has crashed in such a major way. Once again users flocked to Down Detector to report the outage, with more than 8,000 reports in a matter of minutes.
Seeing the comedic site, one user posted on Twitter/X: "I was 61 comments deep into a 9 year old thread about existentialism." And another joked: "Coming to Twitter to check if Reddit is Down and seeing how addicted me and everyone else is."
