Pokemon card collectors might be looking to the Journey Together set announced last week, but before then there's the small matter of the Prismatic Evolutions set.
The set kicks off on Friday (January 17) of this week, at least officially, with a series of products coming that focus around Eevee and its evolutions, with each one gaining the Stellar Tera type (thanks, Serebii).
Still, in a surprise twist, one card from the set has gone up for sale early and drawn a whopping sum of money — making it one to look out for in packs of your own.
Over on eBay, Umbreon ex from the Prismatic Evolutions set has sold for $18,869. That's around £15,463.86 in pounds, an eye-watering sum for a card.
Other bids on cards are already hitting more than £2000 with over four days left to go, too, so this could end up being eclipsed in time.
While value is subjective (I'd love to have £15,000 to spend on anything, let alone a card) it's certainly a great-looking card with a whole host of colour.
"This product is a highly sought-after Pokémon TCG card from the Evolutions set featuring Umbreon ex. This double rare card is part of the speciality EX subset and has a dark attribute, making it a valuable addition to any collection," the item listing reads.
"Manufactured by Nintendo in 2024, the card is of standard size with a borderless, full art design and a holo finish. With its chase rarity and English language, this unreleased Umbreon ex card is sure to appeal to collectors and fans of Pokémon TCG looking to add a unique and rare card to their collection."
As pointed out by the seller, the set is launching in the US on January 17, with the card shipping on the week of February 17. It's also 'Ungraded', so it hasn't been appraised by a professional.
At the end of 2024, the Pokemon Company revealed an Aardman animation crossover, as well as the Mythical Island update for Pokemon TCG Pocket.
Pokemon fans also smashed a Guinness World Record with a 24-hour unboxing of the last set, Surging Sparks.
