John DeGrove, secretary of California’s Department of Community Affairs, will be the keynote speaker Thursday and Friday at a two-day program on “Antiquated Subdivisions: Balancing Public Concerns and Private Rights.”
The session, sponsored by UCLA Extension’s Public Policy Program, the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy and the California Coastal Conservancy, will be held from 3:45 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday at the Beverly Garland Motor Lodge, 1780 Tribute Road, Sacramento.
Program coordinator is Madelyn Glickfeld, planning consultant at MJG Inc. The conference will deal with legal considerations of subdivisions that would not be approved today because of lack of utilities or substandard lot sizes or subdivisions in places such as Lake Tahoe where lower density is desired.
The conference will cover antiquated subdivisions in California and Florida. The fee is $135, including meals and course material. More information may be obtained from UCLA Extension’s Public Policy Program in Los Angeles.
