Prince Harry has spoken out about royal life this week during a surprise appearance at a Los Angeles event focusing on the best ways to tackle challenges for the future.
The Duke of Sussex, 40, made a speech at the Upfront Summit in Los Angeles yesterday where he surprised the crowd by acknowledging his past as a working royal.
While Harry is the youngest son of King Charles, the prince has not carried out any royal duties since he quit royal life in early 2020.
As well as leaving the monarchy behind, the prince also moved to Montecito in California, where he lives in a nine-bed mansion with his wife Meghan Markle and their two children Prince Archie, five, and Princess Lilibet, three.
However, Harry did reflect on his royal life this week in an unexpected speech.
As reported by People, the prince recalled how there was one thing that his royal life was always centred around - charity.
Speaking to the LA crowd, Harry said: "Still, I’ve approached everything in my life through the lens of service."
He continued: "From my institutional role traveling the world to my decade of duties in the military, I saw the power of serving others firsthand.
"My personal experiences overseas taught me that when you put others first, you build stronger, more sustainable systems."
Harry’s surprise appearance came just weeks after the prince was in Canada for The Invictus Games 2025 - a foundation set up by the prince to help ex-servicemen and women.
The prince’s appearance also comes just days before his wife Meghan Markle’s new Netflix show “With Love, Meghan” airs on March 4.
