Two suspects involved in an acid attack have been seen walking the streets of a rural Wiltshire village, 140 miles from the scene of the incident in Plymouth, Devon.
An investigation has been launched into a horrific early-morning acid attack that has left a man in his 20s hospitalised and fighting for his life.
The victim sustained serious injuries and will remain in hospital for treatment.
A police spokesperson confirmed, "It has been established that acid was used during the attack to inflict the injuries."
The suspects forcibly entered a property on Liposon Road at around 3:55am on Friday, February 21.
Just hours later, the duo, described as black males wearing black clothing, were spotted in Grittleton.
According to a local resident, the pair were seen walking door-to-door, asking if they could charge a mobile phone, claiming their car had broken down.
It is alleged that a villager allowed them to charge their phone before giving them a lift to Chippenham Railway Station.
Police have remained at the scene since the attack, with Crime Scene Investigators in white forensic suits seen entering and leaving the property throughout the weekend.
In a statement, a Wiltshire Police spokesperson said, "Enquiries have led officers to search for witnesses who may have seen two men in their early 20s in the Grittleton area, near the M4."
The spokesperson added, “Officers investigating the assault are appealing to anyone in the Grittleton area to check their CCTV or doorbell footage.”
Police are particularly keen to identify and speak with a driver who is believed to have given the two suspects a lift.
Anyone with information or relevant CCTV or dashcam footage is asked to contact the police on 101 or via the website, quoting log 69 of 21/2/2025.
