Peter Andre, reflecting on his 2015 nuptials to Emily MacDonagh, has shared an endearing anecdote featuring Princess, his daughter with former partner Katie Price.
In his autobiography, Andre recounts the emotional ceremony: "Emily and I couldn't hold back the tears as we exchanged our vows and our rings. We weren't the only ones." During the wedding at Mamhead House in Exeter, young Princess showed her empathetic side.
"Princess was upset at first because she didn't like to see Emily crying. I had to explain to her that they were tears of happiness, which set her off all over again!" he recalls affectionately.
The joy of the day stood in stark contrast to an earlier heartache Peter dealt with, following the sad passing of his brother Andrew from kidney cancer in December 2012 when he was 54. At that time, Peter's romance with Emily was still fresh, and he battled severe depression.
Speaking to The Guardian about that period, the Mysterious Girl singer shared his desperate outlook: "I said: 'You can either stay and stick with me through this – which personally I wouldn't – or you can go.'"
Emily's response to his gloomy projection was one of unwavering support, reports Somerset Live. She confidently dismissed the thought of leaving his side, assuring him, "It's not even a question. We're going to get through it together."
Peter made sure to give his brother Andrew a special mention as he and his wife Emily celebrated their fourth wedding anniversary.
Sharing snapshots of the big day on Instagram, he expressed gratitude with the heartfelt message: "Thanks to all our friends and family that were there and continue to be there for us. You mean everything to us. Also for those close to us, relatives and friends and most importantly my brother Andrew who couldn't be with us, we love you so much."
Before tying the knot with Emily, Peter's marriage to Katie Price lasted just shy of four years, ending in 2009.
During the split, Katie reflected: "Pete is the love of my life and my life. We have children together and I am devastated and disappointed by his decision to separate and divorce me, as I married him for life."
Katie moved on by marrying Alex Reid in 2010, but that union was short-lived, leading to a subsequent marriage to Kieran Hayler.
