Pete Wicks avoids run in with ex Maura as he arrives at BRITs with ex-Islander

Pete Wicks arrived with another Love Island star at the BRIT Awards tonight - after avoiding a run-in with ex Maura Higgins.

The former Only Way Is Essex star arrived at the BRIT Awards red carpet this evening after his ex Maura Higgins arrived at the venue. Maura looked incredible in a see-through gown, complete with flower motifs to cover her modesty.

Pete later walked the red carpet himself, where he posed for pictures with his friend Olivia Atwood, who wore a stunning black dress with a long train detail that Olivia had to rearrange herself as she made her way down the carpet.

It had been reported that Maura was less than happy with Pete and Olivia's friendship, as the pair were set to record a new podcast together. However, a source later added: "As far as Maura’s concerned she doesn’t have any issues with Olivia and will always make an effort to say hello if they ever are at the same parties or red carpet events.

"Any time there’s been a suggestion of a feud or competitiveness it has always baffled Maura. They are on their own journeys and not involved in each other's careers, but she of course hopes the respect she feels for Olivia is mutual."

Pete and Maura split on Valentine's Day after a "few clashes", it was revealed last month.

A source said at the time: "Maura and Pete have decided to call off their romance. There have been a few clashes, and it was eventually agreed they were better off as friends. Those closest to them know it's been a very on and off relationship, which is why they were so resistant to go public in the first place. They remain close and share a deep connection."

During her time in the I'm A Celebrity jungle at the end of last year, Maura hinted at her romance to Pete.

Asked if she was single, she said: "I am, but I was seeing someone before I came in. I'm not in a relationship." Admitting she wasn't sure if she was in love, she said it was "different" before adding: "but then, is it because we've known each other for a long time?"

Pete had also been open about their friendship turned romance, as he praised her for being "super intelligent".

On Paul C Brunson's podcast, Pete revealed: "Maura and I have known each other for a long time, I say a long time about six years. We have the same sense of humour, she is super intelligent and I think you know that is sometimes something people don’t realise about Maura. She is incredibly witty and we have always been there for each other for kind of the past six years at a distance where we have always been friends. We have always kind of been there for each other and whatever else."
