The realm of mascaras is a big one to navigate because there are so many different formulations, bristle shapes, materials, and colours too.
Now I am not just saying it because brown is a hugely popular colour trend at the moment in the fashion, interiors and beauty spaces, but I have long been a fan of brown make-up, particularly brown mascara for many decades.
Brown mascara achieves a softer eye make-up look, and is not as harsh as deep black eye make-up. I find that when I am tired, my undereyes are every hue of purple, my eyelids become puffy they swallow up my eyelashes (IYKYK), and my eyelashes shrink, so the worst thing for me to do is to put on harsh black mascara that exaggerates the dark, tired and lacklustre area even more.
I have tried a variety of mascaras in my time, but Glossier’s Lash Slick has been my go-to for many years now, and the moment the beauty brand released a brown version of the iconic make-up cosmetic I never looked back.
Lash Slick is Glossier’s bestselling mascara, which is unsurprising considering how lightweight and gentle it is on my lashes.
The tapered comb and flexibility of the silicone wand works to separate even the finest of lashes for a lifted look. This innovative design means I can coat every hair, so my lashes look longer and volumised without any clumping.
The formula is ultra lightweight and doesn’t weigh down my lashes, which not only makes for a more comfortable wear, but also helps to achieve my desired natural look. So much so, some friends have asked me if I have had LVL because my eyelashes look naturally long and lifted. The secret? Lash Slick in brown.
The mascara isn’t drying either. I have gone through numerous tubes, and even when it’s near the end the formula doesn’t dry or flake on my lashes. I can honestly say Lash Slick delivers on its promise to nourish the lashes even to the final dregs of mascara.
The nourishing formula is infused with provitamin B5, and vegan biotin (Biotyinyl Tripeptide), which helps to keep the lashes hydrated, soft, and protected from any damage. The secret ingredient is the use of Japanese Fibre Technology, which means minute fibres infused in the formula sit on your individual lashes to add length with every sweep, though these are so fine you barely see them.
The cruelty and fragrance free formula is smudge-resistant, which I can attest to, and water-resistant. Plus, it promises longwear for up to 12 hours, though I have kept my mascara on for longer and it still stays put without any crumbling as the day goes on.
Glossier’s Lash Slick has been tested by a dermatologist, as well as an ophthalmologist, and deemed suitable for those with sensitive eyes, or those who wear contact lenses, to use safely.
The mascara retails for £20, which I think is a reasonable amount for such a long-lasting, longwearing, and practical make-up cosmetic.
However, Glossier has offered members the chance to save 15% sitewide, which would see this mascara reduced to £17.
Members who have signed up to receive the Glossier newsletter will have received their unique discount code on email, which can be redeemed in store and online.
However, if you are not a member, it is super easy to do so. Simply enter your email address and sign up to the newsletter, and you may just secure yourself the promotional code to shop my Glossier go-to for less.
With almost 10,000 reviews it’s safe to say I am not the only fan of this beauty product. Some shoppers have hailed Lash Slick their ‘favourite’ product and the ‘best mascara in the game’ – I couldn’t agree more.
One happy shopper shared: ‘Nothing to dislike here, easy to wear, has a light finish suitable for every day and removes easily with no irritation.’
Another praised: ‘Feels like going on, no spider lash. And best of all: no end of day eye irritation as with other brands.’
A separate Glossier fan added: ‘This is the loveliest mascara I have ever used! Doesn’t cause clumping. Will WITHOUT A DOUBT purchase again.’
