An Australian mother has described the terrifying moment her baby boy choked on a plastic clip in a Kmart store.
The anonymous woman told Tiny Hearts Education her five-month-old son Alfie has thankfully made a full recovery after having the clip, which was attached to a pair of socks, surgically removed after it got lodged in his throat.
'Feel horrible that I took my eyes off him for a second,' she wrote.
The mother said while she was shopping at Kmart she placed a pair of socks she planned to purchase on Alfie's blanket in his capsule which he started sucking on without her knowledge.
'Sucked the clip so hard he swallowed and began gagging,' she said.
'I took my eyes off him for a second, a second it only took before it became lodged in his throat,' she continued.
Alfie started gagging so hard he was vomiting bile.
The woman said he thankfully didn't need CPR but he was rushed to the hospital where he had emergency surgery to remove the small black hook clip.
'They told me it was lodged 3cm in his throat,' she continued.
The post attracted dozens of comments from concerned parents relieved the baby boy was ok after the terrifying ordeal.
'Omg I would never of thought that could be possible. Thanks for this post to educate,' one woman wrote.
'How absolutely terrifying for you all. Glad your beautiful boy is ok now,' said another.
'Glad he's recovered well. It must have been terrifying!' Commented a third.
