Pete Wicks was pictured looking stony-faced as he left last night's BRIT Awards afterparty - hours after narrowly avoiding crossing paths with his ex Maura Higgins.
The Only Way Is Essex lothario, 37, and the Love Island turned I'm A Celeb star, 34, called time on their brief romance in mid-February. Their romance - which was built on the strong foundation of a longterm friendship - became public just before Christmas, when he was seen in photos the Irish model posted from a hotel after she jetted back from the Australian jungle.
Pete arrived at the O2 Arena with another Love Island star, his pal Olivia Attwood, who he is rumoured to be starting a podcast with. The documentary maker wore a stunning black dress with a long train detail that she had to rearrange herself as she made her way down the carpet.
Maura had also dressed to impress, slipping into a sheer gown which relied on delicately placed flower motifs to cover her modesty.
After toasting the night's winners at the The Universal Music BRIT Awards After-Party at 180 Studios, Pete was seen heading home with Olivia and his best friend, newly single Sam Thompson. He looked stony-faced as he made his way to a waiting taxi alongside his pals.
Maura was seen heading home with 2024's King of the Jungle, McFly star Danny Jones, who she met while competing on the show.
While it's been reported that Maura was less than happy with Pete and Olivia's friendship. However, a source later added: "As far as Maura’s concerned she doesn’t have any issues with Olivia and will always make an effort to say hello if they ever are at the same parties or red carpet events.
"Any time there’s been a suggestion of a feud or competitiveness it has always baffled Maura. They are on their own journeys and not involved in each other's careers, but she of course hopes the respect she feels for Olivia is mutual."
It was reported that Pete and Maura split on Valentine's Day after a "few clashes". A source said: "Maura and Pete have decided to call off their romance. There have been a few clashes, and it was eventually agreed they were better off as friends. Those closest to them know it's been a very on and off relationship, which is why they were so resistant to go public in the first place. They remain close and share a deep connection."
During her time in the I'm A Celebrity jungle at the end of last year, Maura hinted at her romance to Pete.
Asked if she was single, she said: "I am, but I was seeing someone before I came in. I'm not in a relationship." Admitting she wasn't sure if she was in love, she said it was "different" before adding: "but then, is it because we've known each other for a long time?"
Pete had also been open about their friendship turned romance, as he praised her for being "super intelligent".
On Paul C Brunson's podcast, Pete revealed: "Maura and I have known each other for a long time, I say a long time about six years. We have the same sense of humour, she is super intelligent and I think you know that is sometimes something people don’t realise about Maura.
"She is incredibly witty and we have always been there for each other for kind of the past six years at a distance where we have always been friends. We have always kind of been there for each other and whatever else."
