Lisandro Martinez is set to miss the rest of the season, according to reports.
Martinez appeared to jar his knee during the Red Devils' Premier League clash with Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon. The Argentine was left on the turf in visible agony - and he was in tears as he left the pitch on a stretcher.
And now, reports via TyC Sports in Argentina are suggesting he could be ruled out for the remainder of the season. Journalist Gaston Edul shared a video on X, with the caption: "Lisandro Martínez tore his cruciate ligaments."
Speaking after the game, United boss Ruben Amorim told journalists: "Yes, hard day for the team, for the fans, we lose again.
"We improve in some areas of the game, we controlled better the game, we had more possession, we had situations, but, in the end, we suffered two goals that we can avoid.
"And Licha is really important for us, not just as a football player but the character that he has, especially in the hard moments. So now it’s time for us to help Licha like he is doing for so long."
He added: "I think it’s a bad situation. Let’s wait to assess things with the doctor, but I think it’s a serious situation."
United continued to slip and slide down the table, with their clash with Crystal Palace their latest struggle.
The Red Devils shipped two goals to the Eagles, in a poor performance from United that their fans are getting all to accustomed with.
And Ruben Amorim's side now sit 13th, with Palace leapfrogging them to move into 12th.
