Man United fans fear Cavani is set to leave after waving to supporters

Manchester United fans are fearing that Edinson Cavani could be set to leave the club after footage has emerged of him waving and blowing kisses to the supporters after their 3-1 victory over Burnley.

The Red Devils sealed all three points on Thursday night thanks to goals from Scott McTominay, an own goal by Ben Mee and Cristiano Ronaldo with his 14th of the season.

Cavani, who scored United’s equaliser against Newcastle earlier in the week, partnered Ronaldo up-front and produced a typically hard-working performance that he has been fabled for since joining the club in the summer of 2020.

Though he is happy at the club there have been reports that he could leave the club as early as January, with Barcelona said to be interested in signing the veteran striker.

A video has been on social media after United's victory on Thursday, which some have pointed out could be Cavani saying 'goodbye' to the Red Devils.

Maynard Manyowa tweeted the video and said: 'Mmm Cavani has just walked over to our end and thanked the fans, then seemed to wave and kiss us goodbye.

'He has also done that at the Sir Bobby Charlton Stand and Stretford end but less so.

'Either he had a family member here or this is goodbye & he is leaving in January.'

Hrishikesh Baruah commented: 'The absolute state of this club if we let Cavani leave, and the likes of Jones, Lingard, Pogba, Mata, Fred continues to get a free pass.'

Simon Wale tweeted: 'If that is the last time in a United shirt, thanks for the shifts you put in. He gave 100% every time he went out there for United. #MUFC

Meanwhile another Manchester United fan called Danny posted: 'If that’s him gone then what a signing he’s been.

'Not been an easy 18 months for him on and off the pitch but every time he played he gave 100%. He’d have gone down in United history if we had signed him at an earlier stage of his career. What a player.'

Twitter user MoBidness posted: 'Cavani was the player we never knew we needed... wish we would've gotten him 5-6 years ago.'

Another Manchester United fan though said that Cavani was just enjoying 'every moment' at Old Trafford.

Max wrote: 'He's just enjoying every moment as Man United player. Just look at him when McTominay scored, vibing towards the crowd.'
