Greaves was making her debut in the major PDC event and took to the unique atmosphere of Butlins, Minehead impressively.
The Doncaster star raced into the fourth round of the tournament, dropping just four legs en route to wins over Stefan Bellmont, Rhys Griffin and Grand Slam semi-finalist Mickey Mansell.
Given a daunting task in her fourth round having been drawn against World No.1 Humphries, the 21-year-old showed no signs of early nerves as she checked out 126 and 124 to race into a 2-0 lead.
While Humphries broke back swiftly, Greaves’ impressive doubling continued as the women’s World Champion took advantage of missed doubles from her opponent to move 7-5 up and threaten a huge upset.
But Humphries, fresh of a Premier League night win in Exeter on Thursday, rallied to devastating effect and won the next five legs to book his spot in the next round.
‘I started well and I knew towards the end of the match that I dropped off a bit, but that’s what I’m trying to work towards – being better and more consistent in them longer formats,’ Greaves told ITV after her defeat.
‘But what an experience. To play someone like Luke is just amazing for me and my game and it will bring me on a long way.’
Humphries, meanwhile, who beckoned Greaves back on stage to take in the crowd’s applause after her defeat, was glowing in his praise of the young talent.
‘I really enjoyed the game, that’s what I said to Beau afterwards,’ he said. ‘It was great fun and she was amazing and played so great.
‘She dropped off in the end, it’s a long format which she’s probably not as used to playing but she really brought out the best in me.’
Humphries continued: ‘She belongs in this environment, she really did test me there and if that was a Premier League game she would have beaten me.
‘She just needs to give herself time – maybe five years – and I think she’ll be in the Premier League. I think she’s probably a top-64 player in the world right now.
‘But I don’t want to put pressure on here, just keep doing what she’s doing and in the next few years she’ll find that she’s got the level to match me and Luke (Littler) and everybody. She’s got a massive future ahead of her.’
While Greaves does not hold a PDC Tour Card, it has been an encouraging start to 2025 with some impressive results on the Challenge Tour.
Her performances earned her a place in the second Players Championship event of the season on the main tour and she made an impression there too.
Her first victory on the PDC ProTour came in some style as she averaged 102.7 to beat Josh Rock 6-5 in the first round in Wigan earlier this month.
Elsewhere at the UK Open, Luke Littler came through a thrilling last-leg decider against Peter Wright to win 10-9 and book his spot in the next round.
The Nuke stormed into a 7-4 lead and despite being pegged back by some brilliant finishing from Wright, was able to see himself over the line in a nervy final leg.
