Lorraine Kelly admits to making 'wrench' decision about her future on ITV show

TV favourite Lorraine Kelly has confessed that her recent decision to "take a step back" from her iconic ITV programme was quite the emotional pull, as she reflects on her future in the world of broadcasting.

Following her choice to pause her Friday presenting slot, she spoke to Woman and Home, suggesting sometimes you need space to truly value life's gifts. The beloved Scottish presenter shared: "It was a wee bit of a wrench. Sometimes you've just got to take a step back in order to appreciate what you've got, and it has certainly made life a lot easier with my mum not being well."

She opened up about her mum's health struggles, revealing: "She has this horrible kidney problem, but is doing OK now. As far as looking after her goes, also with Billie and then the writing, it has been a good change."

When probed if she'd ever consider hanging up her hosting hat for good, Lorraine gave a staunch yet hopeful response about her ongoing enthusiasm for her hosting job, envisioning herself cheerfully embracing the role even into her 90s. She joyously expressed the delight she feels heading into work.

Enthusing about her career longevity, Lorraine maintained: "I couldn't give up the show because I love it – honestly, I'd do it until I was 95! When you're lucky enough to skip to your work – without sounding like Snow White – why would I not?"

Reflecting on the early days versus now, she mused: "At the start I was quite nervous, but I don't get anxious any more because I think, 'This person is coming to talk to me. It's my job to make them look the best we possibly can.'

"It doesn't matter whether you're Meryl Streep or a wee lady who's done an amazing thing. Of course, there have been storms along the way and so many regime changes, but I feel as if we're in a really good place. The show's doing really well."

Lorraine Kelly has never shied away from expressing her opinions on the Royals, particularly when it comes to rumours surrounding Duchess Kate and Meghan Markle, reports Edinburgh Live.

This week, she addressed the so-called 'Jam War' speculation head-on, following reports that both Duchesses enjoy making jam. Speaking on her show Lorraine, she debunked the idea of animosity over such trivial matters: "It is silly, isn't it? Do you not think surely it has to stop quite soon. Every time Meghan does something or Catherine does something, there's always people who want to see a clash, even when there isn't one."

Kelly emphasised the nonsense in trying to fabricate a feud where non exists, urging a stop to these baseless comparisons.
