Liam Payne's grieving girlfriend Kate Cassidy has penned a heartbreaking tribute to the star after returning to a spot she once visited with him.
The 31 year old singer, who tragically passed away in October 2024 after a fall from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, has been remembered by his loving girlfriend as she posted the photos on Instagram. The Instagram share consists of two photos, the first snap sees Kate and Liam looking lovingly at one another while stood in a room filled with a room filled with white lamp posts – which appears to have been taken in the Urban Light sculpture, located in the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
In the throwback photo, Kate is wearing a bright blue mini dress with a floaty skirt, which she matched with a blue handbag. Meanwhile, Liam is seen in a grey short-sleeved shirt and black jeans. The next photo shows Kate in the same spot, following Liam's tragic death.
In the solo photo she is wearing a pair of grey tracksuit bottoms, a white vest top and white hoodie. She has her back to the camera and is looking in the distance and appears deep in thought – likely reminiscing on the time she spent with her boyfriend.
In the caption, Kate opened up about returning to the spot. She penned: "I thought this place would feel empty without you, but instead, it’s filled with the warmth of this moment we shared".
It comes after news the BRIT Awards is set to honour the late Liam Payne with a heartfelt video tribute at tonight's ceremony. Liam will be remembered at the London awards ceremony on tonight. Host Jack Whitehall, a friend of Liam's, will introduce the video package, which celebrates Liam's remarkable life and career.
The montage will feature clips of Liam's time on The X Factor with One Direction, as well as highlights from his solo career and biggest moments with the band. Although there were rumours of a possible One Direction reunion to pay tribute to Liam, it was ultimately decided that the focus should be solely on him.
A source revealed: "The Brits have created a video package which celebrates how incredible Liam was.
"Jack was a friend of Liam's and they think it would be fitting for him to introduce the montage, which takes in Liam's life and career."
The insider added to The Sun: "It will include clips of him performing on The X Factor with One Direction, as well as some of his biggest and best moments with the band and as a solo artist."
The source also shared the video is "an incredibly emotional watch" but it's hopeful that the tribute will "do Liam justice".
Liam, who bagged seven BRIT awards with One Direction, also graced the ceremony stage in 2018 alongside Rita Ora. He arrived for the 2018 ceremony with his then-girlfriend Cheryl, who he shares son Bear with. The pair put on a loved-up display during their red carpet appearance, with Cheryl clutching a white rose while Liam affectionately lay a kiss on his girlfriend's cheek. However, the pair ended their relationship just a few months after their BRITS appearance.
