Kai Rooney watches his first away game with footballer dad Wayne

Kai Rooney looked delighted as he watched Derby County win 2-1 against Stoke City as he enjoyed his first away game with his footballer father Wayne on Thursday.

The 12-year-old, who is the eldest out of the Rooney children, rejoiced at a goal as Wayne, 36, videoed him.

Wayne is the manager of Derby County and thanked the fans in the caption of the Instagram clip.

He wrote: 'Thanks to all the @dcfc fans tonight, more great away support. Here’s my son Kai at his first away game. Let’s keep going.'

The pair were situated in the away stand as the rest of the fans celebrated the score.

Wayne has been manager of the team since November 2020 and has had 62 games - 27% of them being wins.

Derby County current sit 24th out of 24 in the Championship League table.

Goals from Luke Plange and substitute Colin Kazim-Richards earned the team a victory which took them to within 11 points from safety.

Kai himself is a young and up-and-coming striker like his father before him and his mother, Coleen, posted an image of Kai in full Manchester United kit and packed for an away day with the club back in the summer.

Kai is the eldest of four boys, and Coleen and Wayne also share Klay, eight, Kit, five, and Cass, three.

Coleen often shares snaps of the boys together, the most recent being a candid selfie of the family looking very happy.

Taking to her Instagram, the media personality captioned the snap: 'My cheeky lot!' as they posed in their outerwear.
