Shrove Tuesday is quickly approaching, a day where we can stuff our faces with as many pancakes we'd like without feeling guilty, so taking advantage of it is a must.
There are many ways to enjoy pancakes, whether you like them soft and fluffy or you're more of a crepe person, you absolutely cannot go wrong with a nice stack.
When it comes to actually making the treat, it is a bit of a weird one. It can be so simple to make yet so difficult to get right because a wrong amount of just one ingredient can completely ruin it.
You can purchase prepared mixes from the store, but honestly, they aren't the same as homemade ones.
Luckily, this Jamie Oliver recipe is so easy that even children can get involved in the process, and you won't experience the hassle of getting the scales out and measuring everything - it's way simpler than that.
This one-cup method makes it makes life so much easier; all you need to do is fill the cup with self-raising flour and tip it into a large bowl, then with the same cup, fill it up with semi-skimmed milk and pop that into the bowl too. Then you'll wanna crack and egg into the mix and whisk it all together "until it's nice and smooth".
Now, it doesn't get easier than that.
All that's left to do is, of course, make the actual pancakes. The chef recommends using a large, non-stick frying pan on medium heat.
Let the pan get hot and then add a small knob of butter, once it has melted and starts to sizzle, feel free to add large spoonfuls of the batter to the pan.
Once bubbles begin to form on the pancakes' surface after one to two minutes, grab your fish slice and flip it over so the other side can cook for the same amount of time or until golden.
Once you're done with that pancake, pop it on a plate on the side, carefully wipe the pan with a ball of kitchen paper, and then repeat the same steps of placing some butter on a pan and spoonfuls of batter to cook the next batch.
Not only did the celebrity chef provide the easiest pancake recipe, but he even offered some topping ideas, including bananas, apples, seasonal berries such as raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, and blackberries, honey or maple syrup, and natural yoghurt.
And for those with a sweet tooth, of course, you can't go wrong with a bit of chocolate or the classic lemon and sugar.
