The singer, 32, who led the pack with her five nods, was crowned artist of the year, as well as scooping song of the year for Guess featuring Billie Eilish, Mastercard album of the year for Brat, dance act and pop act.
She had already been named songwriter of the year, which continues her winning streak of three Grammy Awards earlier this month.
Charli first became a global success in 2012 when she collaborated with Icona Pop for I Love It.
She then featured on Iggy Azalea’s Fancy in 2014, before releasing her first solo top-ten single in the US, Boom Clap.
In the decade since, Charli has been catapulted into global stardom, and this summer, reached new heights of fame with Brat.
However, despite her immense music success, the star revealed she’ll be taking a step back, telling The Sun: ‘It’s probably no music for a while… quite a while.
‘I also want to act now. I’m already there and thinking about that stuff a little bit more.
‘The success of Brat and the success of the marketing of Brat is also, in ways, a curse.
‘I’ll pivot but whatever I do next will be compared. I’m aware that whatever comes next will be the albatross, so to speak.’
Ahead of her career change and following her Brit Awards success, we’ve taken a look into her private life…
Who is Charli XCX dating?
Charli is engaged to a fellow musician, rock star George Daniel.
The 1975 drummer popped the question to Charli in November 2023, with the singer announcing: ‘charli xcx and george daniel f**king for life!!!’
The couple were first thought to have connected in 2021 while working on single Spinning, before Charli confirmed their relationship on social media the following year.
Daniel is a founding member of The 1975, having replaced Matty Healy as drummer when he became lead singer.
He’s collaborated several times with Charli on her music, but she joked in a May 2024 interview with Rolling Stone that she’s ‘such a b****’ while working together.
‘We want to impress each other, and we think we’re both really good, but I’m actually such a b**** in the studio with George,’ she said.
‘Because we’re obviously so close, you lose everything in terms of the normal studio boundaries.
‘We flow really well, and he leaves a lot of space for people to breathe and be them and do their process.’
What is her real name?
Charlie’s real name is Charlotte Aitchison.
She grew up in Essex to a mum of Indian and Ugandan descent and a Scottish dad.
The star started performing from a young age, previously revealing her parents ‘drove her to raves’ when she was 15.
‘I actually started performing when I was really young, and I played at my first rave when I was 15 years old,’ she said on Saturday Night Live.
‘My parents actually drove me there. And, if you’re wondering how did I get my parents to drive me to a rave? Well, I just told them, “Guys, I’ve got swim practice. At 2:00am.”‘
How Brat Summer propelled Charli to super-stardom
Charli’s lime green album Brat became a cultural phenomenon last year, with the word even being crowned Collins Dictionary 2024 word of the year.
The #bratsummer trend currently has 166,000 TikTok posts, and it even worked its way into the US election.
Charli herself described the phenomenon of Brat on TikTok, saying: ‘You’re just like that girl who is a little messy and likes to party and maybe says some dumb things some times.
‘Who feels like herself but maybe also has a breakdown. But kind of like parties through it, is very honest, very blunt. A little bit volatile. Like, does dumb things. But it’s brat. You’re brat. That’s brat.’
She also told the BBC that the essentials of a brat summer is a ‘pack of cigs, a Bic lighter and a strappy white top with no bra.’
