Andy Roddick's split from Mandy Moore may have left the actress and singer utterly heartbroken, but she's long since moved on from that pain.
The tennis legend dated Moore during the pinnacle of his career from 2003 to 2004 – a period that saw him reach world No. 1 following his US Open victory and make it to the Wimbledon final before being beaten by Roger Federer. But as his career peak slipped away, so did his relationship.
The two had become an item after meeting on the set of the rom-com How to Deal, and they quickly became a power couple, with Moore often spotted cheering Roddick on from the stands when she wasn't accompanying him at red carpet events. However, the glaring public attention would eventually take its toll on their relationship, leading them to part ways.
This separation deeply affected Moore, who admitted in 2018: "He broke my heart... [That heartbreak] got poured into everything. It's human nature, part of the human condition. You're on to the next! It's OK, wasn't meant to be."
The emotional aftermath lingered for years, yet now Moore has since found peace with the past, adding: "He's like married with kids and he seems super happy, and I'm happy for him. We were kids. I don't care. 10 years ago, I would have had an axe to grind, but now I'm like, 'whatever'."
Approaching 16 years of marriage with model and actress Brooklyn Decker, Roddick has nothing but praise for his ex. "I couldn't have more respect for her," he told PEOPLE last year.
"We were certainly young, with our whole lives ahead of us, but she's someone who I am thankful for. I think she's a 10-out-of-10 human."
The friendly exes' dynamic even saw Decker and Moore teaming up for 'No Love: The Roast of Andy Roddick' back in 2020, and according to Roddick, his wife is in touch with Moore more frequently than he is.
Moore, now married to musician Taylor Goldsmith, has children August, Oscar, and Louise, while Roddick revels in family life with Decker and their two kids, son Hank and daughter Stevie. In 2023, Moore reflected poignantly on Roddick's US Open victory anniversary.
"Andy was a really formative part of my young adult life and although we're not in touch, I was really moved by this article reflecting on the 20th anniversary of his US Open win and the kind of life he's lead since," she said. "I'm so happy for him and his family. Congrats on this milestone, Andy!"
