For as long as I've been married – around 11 years – I have denied that I snore. My wife has always told me that I do, but I refused to believe it.
But now, thanks to the wonderful team at Samsung, I have actual evidence that I do and that my wife was right . . . just don't tell her that. I have spent the last few months giving the Samsung Galaxy Ring a try after the company revealed that it now comes in bigger sizes. I had always found them to be too small, although I don't exactly have the world's biggest fingers.
However, now that they're available up to size 15, the chance to give it a try appealed to me – and I also wanted to see if it was better than wearing a smart watch as it mostly offers similar features.
Except for one key thing, which was the snoring tracker. I wore this ring day and night, while sleeping, for weeks, just to see what data it came up with and it really was quite eye-opening.
It takes around seven days for it to fully work out what kind of sleeper you are – apparently I am a penguin – but the snoring recordings work from the first night.
And I snore, a lot, and it recorded every single second of it. I appear to snore for around 90% of the time I'm asleep, which also correlates with how much time the ring claims I am sleeping “lightly” for.
Thankfully, it didn't say I was dying while sleeping, so that's comforting, and I am already aware that chronic sinusitis is the cause of my snoring – but it's nice that I have some actual solid data on just how bad it is.
I have attempted to change my sleeping habits as a result, which mainly means going to be a bit earlier and stopping with my “doom scrolling” on TikTok and Instagram for around 30 minutes before I sleep, and this has actually resulted in me having deeper sleeps and better body recovery results.
Overall, if you want to try a device that appears to give you solid and accurate data on how you sleep and your body patterns, then I would highly recommend this ring.
It's rare that something in this field appears accurate and is also pretty stylish, so I'm giving it a 9/10.
I would have given it a 10/10 but it loses a point for proving my wife right after all these years.
