A SAVVY WOMAN has revealed how she gave her boring cupboard doors a new lease of life for under £50.
Kerry, posting from her account @klk.interiors, shared her budget-friendly DIY on TikTok and people were left stunned by the transformation.
The interior design enthusiast gave her plain, cream doors a total makeover, leaving them with a sophisticated oak effect.
She captioned her clip: "DIY faux oak cupboard doors.
"We have two cupboards upstairs with these small doors. We couldn’t get matching oak doors in these sizes, without it being £££, so here’s how I made them look like the rest of the doors upstairs on a budget."
Kerry showed a view of the cupboard before its makeover, which didn't match her gorgeous oak bedroom doors.
Keen for a more cohesive decor, she got to work creating the oak look for less.
Beginning by removing the doors from their hinges and taking off the handles, she got them prepped for their transformation.
She then used 6mm MDF boards, which cost her £30.
Cutting the MDF into strips, she applied it to the doors with No Nails adhesive, leaving 6mm in between each piece.
Filling the gaps with wood filler, she set about sanding and priming her project.
To create a realistic oak texture, she gave the doors a generous coating of Frenchic Crème de la Crème paint and finished with a rubber wood grain tool.
The handy tool imprints a convincing wood-effect print on the paint, making it look just like the real thing.
Kerry told people in the comments she managed to nab her nifty tool for just £7 - you can purchase a similar one on Amazon, here.
Once dry, she covered them in Frenchic Browning Wax, before adding the door knobs back on and attaching the doors back onto their hinges.
Her stunning transformation looked just like real oak, and matched her bedroom doors perfectly.
Kerry managed to keep her costs low, purchasing the MDF for £30, the wood grain effect tool for £7 and then using a £10 Frenchic paint and wax she had around the house.

While somebody else commented: "Such a good idea. We have a small awkward door on our landing too. A bespoke oak door would cost a fortune!"
