In the lead-up to your wedding, pressure can mount as you ensure every last detail is just as you want it for your big day. But some brides have taken it that step further, issuing strict rules their guests must follow, or they can't attend their nuptials at all.
One bride took to Instagram to share her list of demands ahead of her wedding day, including stern warnings to her bridesmaids. She even mentioned that the list would be shared "every day til the wedding", just in case her guests didn't quite get the memo the first time. Her list was dubbed "insufferable" as it was later shared on the Reddit forum Wedding Shaming.
Number one on the list was a reminder to her friends that it is "not your day" as she shared the warning: "Do what the bride asks or don’t be in the wedding." She repeated the first reminder before asserting that they would not have a say in their hair or make-up on the day. "If the bride wants make-up or certain hair for everyone, and you don’t wear make-up, don’t be in the wedding," she harshly wrote.
"It’s usually the ones who scream 'I don’t want all that' who ends up looking less flattering." She added that she might be flexible if someone had a "specific haircut" that needed a different type of styling before repeating the first point for a third time. She also said: "Act how you would want your bridal party to act, if it was your day".
For the second rule, she explained that her bridesmaids would "look jealous when you object to every little thing". The bride added: "Especially things you have not paid for, be grateful or don’t be in the wedding."
She also made sure that her team bride crew knew exactly what their role was on the day. "If you wish to act like anything less, switch to team guest," she asserted. "Have a seat and throw rice, preferably uncooked."
In her last but no means least rule, she ensured that her bridesmaids were clear about paying their way. "If you can’t afford to be in the wedding, let the bride know up front," the bride-to-be noted. "Don’t accept and then penny pinch, especially if it’s one year or more out."
Reddit users were stunned by the rules from the bride and flooded the comments with their thoughts. One wrote: "I would be on team not going just so I could not get this letter every day, 'Please unsubscribe me from this list' would be my dream response."
A second joked: "At least she's giving everyone a daily chance to join TEAM NOT GOING." A third user added: "TEAM NOT EVEN SENDING A GIFT."
