A farmer whose family home was in the firing line of invading Russia tanks has said Donald Trump and his team "humiliated America" with their treatment of Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky.
Pavlo Zbinskyy is a turkey farmer near the Ukrainian capital Kyiv, and in February 2022 he remembers fearing for the lives of his family as the Kremlin sent tanks into his country.
Mr Zbinskyy was one of millions of Ukrainians who watched the country's president head to Washington last week to hopefully sign a minerals deal to help bring an end to the war.
But the meeting of Mr Trump and Zelensky erupted into a heated verbal exchange as the US team accused the wartime leader of being "disrespectful".
Mr Zbinskyy, who watched the shocking scenes from his home in Ukraine, he said: "It wasn't pleasant, Trump and his team looked like offended children on the playground.
"In my opinion, the current American president, first of all, humiliated his country, and most Americans feel ashamed.
"Personally, I had no illusions about the results of these negotiations. I don't take Trump's statements seriously. America should be ashamed."
As well as shocking Ukrainians, the chaotic televised scenes from the White House, which ended peace talks for now, also sparked worldwide pledges of support from international leaders.
Domestically politicians like Inna Sovsun, an MP of the Verkhovna Rada of the Ukrainian Parliament, were equally stunned and worried by what they saw.
Ms Sovsun told the Daily Express: "As for how Ukrainians perceive these events, there is a deep sense of injustice.
"Ukraine is being accused of prolonging the war and rejecting peace, despite being the victim of unprovoked aggression. The treatment of President Zelensky in the Oval Office was seen by many as unfair and unprovoked - not just an attack on him personally, but on Ukraine as a whole.
"Regardless of personal opinions on Zelensky, he is the legitimate leader of Ukraine, and in that moment, he represented all Ukrainians. He had every right to push back against baseless accusations."
Ahead of world leaders meeting for a summit in London today, Ms Sovsun added: "Moving forward, Ukraine remains committed to maintaining strong relations with the US, but it must also call out misinformation and defend the truth.
"Peace cannot be achieved through false narratives or forced capitulation—it requires strength, unity, and unwavering support from Ukraine’s allies."
