Former Married At First Sight star Hayley Vernon revealed how social media 'warped her sense of reality' and caused her to compare herself to airbrushed influencers in a candid Instagram post on Thursday.
The OnlyFans star, 33, shared a screenshot of her thoughts written down on December 14 where she recalled looking in the mirror and 'picking apart' her face and 'scrutinising' her body, in the 'unrealistic pursuit of perfection'.
Hayley said she's in a much better place by cutting down her screen time to 'almost five hours a day' and is heading in to the New Year with a greater sense of 'clarity'.
Hayley shared a screenshot of an Apple Note from December 14 where she reflected on being an influencer for almost two years.
'At the end of the day I'm a young woman who like so many had spent far too much time living their life on various platforms,' she wrote.
'I'm sharing this because it's important that the majority know going in to the New Year to stop looking through the eyes of a camera and start living your life for yourself.'
Reflecting on her most challenging times, Hayley recalled 'scrutinising' and 'picking apart' her body and face in the 'unrealistic pursuit of perfection'.
'I found myself looking in the mirror and picking apart my face and scrutinising my body, striving once more for perfection. Not based on my ideal, but the ideals that social media was spitting at me daily - a very warped sense of reality,' she said.
'Every body, every face not true to form. Edited, filtered, touched and tweaked once more in the unrealistic pursuit of perfection.'
Hayley said she will no longer 'conform' or 'compare' herself to others, and is going in to 2022 with 'clarity' by cutting down her screen time by 'almost five hours a day'.
The brunette rose to fame on last year's season of Channel Nine's Married At First Sight where she was paired with David Cannon.
In May, the reality TV star unveiled the results of her rhinoplasty procedure after undergoing nose and eyelid surgery.
Hayley couldn't stop smiling as she showed off her new nose to the camera, exclaiming: 'Is that not the cutest little nose you ever did see? I'm in love!'
'I could not be happier. It's so cute on every angle. I love it,' she continued.
'This isn't even the finished version. It's going to go down by around 20-30 per cent in the next month, and then continue to go down over the next year.
'So this is a big fat version of the final product.'
Hayley also admitted to getting permanent fillers under her eyes, but said that they had to be moved around because of the nose and eyelid surgeries.
