Meghan Markle and Prince Harry could choose to live in either Portugal or Canada if they were to move out of the US, a royal expert has claimed.
The Duke of Sussex's US visa records have been the subject of legal action between The Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank, and the Department of Homeland Security.
A judge recently ruled that three of the visa documents would be made public - whilst a fourth will remain sealed.
Although there are said to be no plans for the couple to move out of America, one royal expert has suggested two countries where Meghan and Harry could choose to live.
The couple currently resides in California with their two children, Prince Archie, five, and Princess Lilibet, three.
Speaking to GB News, royal correspondent Richard Fitzwilliams said: "I would not say that in the case that Harry was deported, he would necessarily come back to the UK. He could go to Canada, where they were before [moving to the US], or Portugal where they have a holiday home."
Meghan has previous ties to Canada, having lived there during her days as an actress on Suits. It was reported last year that the couple had purchased a holiday home in Portugal.
The expert added: "Obviously, the Royal Family would not want the Sussexes in Britain, but the Sussexes would not want to come to Britain."
He also added that the Duke of Sussex's connection to the Royal Family meant that he avoided a major legal battle in America - as well as US President Donald Trump's fondness of the royals. Mr Fitzwilliams added: "Donald Trump does not want a battle with a member of the Royal Family.
It would be appealed through the courts and it would have a huge amount of publicity.
"He values his trips in 2018 and 2019. He values his links with the Royal Family.
"Harry is still fifth in line to the throne and is still a member of the Royal Family, that is why Trump does not want that [battle]."
