Former Arsenal and Chelsea star lined up to manage European giants

Ex-Porto manager Sergio Conceicao took over at San Siro in December but his tenure has been nothing short of a disaster thus far.

Back-to-back defeats mean the Rossoneri are currently languishing in eighth place in Serie A while they crashed of the Champions League last month following a shock defeat against Feyenoord.

According to reports in Italy, Conceicao is already under mounting pressure and the club are already contemplating his replacement.

And Gazzetta dello Sport claim that Fabregas has already been earmarked as the No.1 target to take over in the summer.

The 37-year-old has made an impressive start to his coaching career, guiding Como to the top tier of Italian football in his first full season in charge.

Fabregas has found the going tougher this term but Como successive wins against Fiorentina and high-flying Napoli means avoiding relegation looks a distinct possibility.

Maurizio Sarri, who coached Fabregas briefly at Chelsea, and Roberto De Zerbi are also in the running but the World Cup winner is the current frontrunner.

Last month, Fabregas was tipped to become a future Chelsea boss by his old teammate at Stamford Bridge Loic Remy.

‘Cesc Fabregas can be a future manager at Chelsea, you could see that might be what he did because of how clever he was as a player,’ Remy told Plejmo.com.

‘Even in training, he would play passes that you weren’t expecting because he was so clever with the ball, he had exactly the right tempo with the ball at his feet.

‘When you play alongside a player like that everything becomes easier, he is at Como now and they are having a tough run of form but I think he will turn it around.

‘He has a vision of football and that will be the same as a coach, it would be a great story for him to return to Chelsea and why not.

‘That could be his path in the future if he keeps progressing, he is so passionate and I can see a future Chelsea manager in there for sure.’
