Having started her career in the limelight back in the 90s, Fearne Cotton has become a familiar face on our TV screens and a familiar voice on the radio too.
Known for hosting shows including Top of the Pops and Radio 1's Live Lounge, Fearne’s career has seen her interview some of the biggest names in music. Throughout her career, the 43-year-old has moved from mainstream media to focus on mental health and wellbeing and in 2018 she began hosting the Happy Place podcast.
Seven years since its launch, the podcast has expanded into other areas including the festival and book club space. But it’s not just Fearne’s amazing professional achievements that have captured attention – fans have shown a keen interest in her love life too, with her linked to several well-known figures.
In 2008, she had a short-lived romance with Welsh presenter Steve Jones, which lasted only three months. Fearne reportedly ended the relationship as she sought a deeper connection. At the time, Jones was known for his reputation as a charmer, with rumoured past relationships involving stars like Pamela Anderson, Angelina Jolie, and Halle Berry.
About their split, a source previously told The Mirror: "Steve isn’t ready to settle down and commit to just one lady while Fearne had only recently come out of a long-term relationship when they met, and didn’t want to rush into anything serious either.
“Neither party has any regrets, as it was great while it lasted. They had a lot of fun but if Fearne is going to be with someone there has got to be more to it than this."
Fearne was briefly linked to Ian Watkins, the former lead singer of the band Lostprophets, in 2004-2005, though their relationship appears to have been short-lived and rumoured rather than widely confirmed. Watkins later became infamous for his conviction on multiple child abuse charges in 2013, which shocked the music world and led to the disbandment of Lostprophets. Cotton has not commented publicly on her past association with Watkins since his crimes came to light.
Fearne and Jesse Jenkins, an American skateboarder, were in an on-and-off relationship in 2008. Despite their turbulent history, Jesse proposed to Fearne on her 29th birthday in September 2010, and they became engaged.
However, their engagement was short-lived, ending in April 2011. Fearne has spoken openly about how the timing of their breakup coincided with the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton, which she was reporting on. The event served as a stark contrast to her own personal turmoil, making her realize the relationship was not working. Although the couple had planned their future together, Fearne admitted she had begun to emotionally disengage from the relationship before their split.
In 2011, Fearne then met Jesse Wood, the son of Rolling Stones star Ronnie Wood. Fearne and Jesse announced their marriage was over in December. Fearne married Reef guitarist Jesse in 2014, after three years together. She gave birth to their first child, Rex, 11, in 2013, with the family welcoming second baby Honey, nine, in 2015.
But ex-CBBC host Fearne announced the pair had split after 13 years together, taking to Instagram Stories to share the family's news. She wrote: "It is with a heavy heart that I let you all know that Jesse and I are ending our marriage. Our priority has been, and will always be, our children. We please ask that you respect the privacy of our family at this time.”
11 weeks after announcing the sad news of their split, Fearne was pictured kissing TV director Elliot Hegarty. According to reports, the pair have been “quietly dating” since January.
“Fearne and Elliot have known each other for a while. When their marriages ended their friendship developed into romance. They have been seeing each other since January. Her split with Jesse was incredibly difficult but Elliot seems to make her incredibly happy. Fearne is now introducing Elliot to friends and they’re pleased to see her smiling again,” a source told The Sun.
