Fatboy Slim unveils exciting new career move amid Zoe Ball’s surprising café job

Legendary DJ Norman Cook, better known as Fatboy Slim, is marking four decades in the industry with an exciting new project—his first-ever book.

The music icon, famous for hits like Right Here, Right Now and Praise You, has curated a stunning visual memoir, packed with nearly 1,000 images spanning his incredible career.

The book, available for pre-order now and set for release on March 12, is a treasure trove of personal photos, original artwork, flyers, and posters—many never seen before.

Sharing his excitement, Cook said: "Next year, I’ll be celebrating 40 years in showbiz, and to celebrate, we thought we’d create a big book full of stuff I’ve kept over the years—from pre-Housemartins, through Beats International, Freakpower, and of course, Fatboy Slim.

“You’ll see what I’ve kept and read about what it all means in one big, beautiful book.”

Fans can expect a deep dive into Cook’s journey from indie pop star with The Housemartins to global DJ phenomenon, with memorabilia tracing his rise to fame.

Alongside the visuals are fascinating behind-the-scenes stories, including the boxer shorts that changed his life, the mystery of hundreds of Smileys, and a school photo that could make a Prime Minister blush.

The book’s release follows news that Cook’s ex-wife, Zoe Ball, has been working at the beach café he owns after stepping away from BBC Radio 2.

The radio star, who earned almost £1 million a year at the BBC, is now enjoying a quieter pace of life at the Big Beach Cafe in the picturesque seaside town of Hove in east Sussex.

The couple’s son Woody, 24, said it’s “funny” to see his parents take up a more calming lifestyle after years of being “crazy party people”.

He told MailOnline: "In the last five years, it's been funny watching my parents take up gardening both of them. These crazy party people I grew up with are now gardening, making puzzles and working in the local café.”

Cook, who bought the cafe in 2013, is often seen working at the venue with a name badge reading: “Norm.”

Woody said: "It's very funny to see that transitional period, just as I'm kind of leaving the nest and now at the start of something big for me in music."

Ball and Cook, 61, have remained close friends since their split. They were married from 1999 until 2000 and share Woody and daughter Nelly, 14.

Despite saying goodbye to Radio 2’s Breakfast Show in December, Ball is set to return to the station with a weekend show, from 1pm to 3pm on Saturdays from May.

She will also host two specials, including a BBC TV show celebrating Elaine Paige’s 60-year career in showbusiness with a concert.

Elsewhere Cook was recently pictured attending F1 75 Live with his teenage daughter Nelly at London’s O2.

Their outing came as it was announced the superstar DJ will headline the Formula 1 British Grand Prix in Silverstone in July alongside Sam Fender, Raye and Becky Hill.
