Famous London hotel adored by celebs on fire with 125 firefighters at scene

A huge fire has engulfed a posh hotel popular amongst celebs and royals.

Pictures shared on social media show ferocious flames ripping through the roof of the Chiltern Firehouse in Marylebone, central London. Plumes of grey smoke are rising into the sky through the windows.

Some 125 firefighters from the London Fire Brigade rushed to the five-star hotel to tackle the blaze, with the service saying the building's extraction system was on fire.

Latest is 100 people have been evacuated. The cause of the fire was not immediately known, according to the brigade.

Flames are currently raging as firefighters are trying to tackle it.

In a statement, the LFB said: "There is a fire in ducting which leads from the ground floor to the roof of the four-storey hotel with a restaurant on the ground floor. A plant room at roof level is also alight."

Crews from Euston, Soho, Paddington, West Hampstead, Kensington and Chelsea fire stations were deployed and remain on scene, LFB added.

The venue was due to host Netflix's BAFTA Awards after-party on Sunday.

The hotel was where Kylie Minogue's 50th birthday party in 2018 and has a huge history of celeb guests.

The celebrity hotspot has hosted other A-listers including Paul Mescal, Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, Tom Cruise and Johnny Depp.
