The heartbroken mum and sister of the 15-year-old stabbed to death at school yesterday, visited the murder scene today and paid tribute to the "special" teen who was "loved by everyone".
Harvey Willgoose, 15, collapsed at All Saints Catholic High School, Sheffield after he was knifed three times by a fellow pupil, also 15. His mum Caroline, 49, and sister Sophie spoke of their ordeal before they visited the school yard where Harvey tragically lost his life.
Writing on social media before she arrived, Caroline told her friends and family: "We are all showing the world what a special person Harvey was and it means so much to us how he was loved by everyone that knew him."
"Our Harvey, no words. My Harvey, life is never gunner be the same. Love you so much."
Sister Sophie said: "My heart is broken into a million pieces, I love you so much Harvey. Hug your loved ones a little tighter, I wish I could."
Now in a full statement, the family have said: "We are utterly heartbroken at the loss of our beautiful boy, Harvey Goose. Our lives are devastated and will never be the same again. We have lost a beloved son, brother, grandson, cousin, nephew and most importantly, a best friend to all."Harvey will be forever known for being a caring, loving and funny young man. At this difficult time we ask you to please respect our privacy as we grieve as a family."
The school went into lockdown after the stabbing, leaving terrified parents waiting anxiously for their children to come out.
A mum of one of Harvey's classmates told how she was left waiting for the "longest two and a half hours" of her life to see her daughter. She said: "Children are the most precious thing in the world. Where are we if they are not safe at school? I was so frightened standing outside. It was horrendous, I was there for two and a half hours waiting and it was the longest two and a half hours of my life.
"I was told that she was fine but unlike some of the children, she was not able to use her phone." Her daughter witnessed the stabbing.
She said: "It all happened so quickly. It was a blur. I was with my best mate waiting to go for food. I heard someone saying 'there is a knife'. It was chaos. I just ran and can't remember much after that. It is not what you expect, it was horrible."
Assistant chief constable Lindsey Butterfield said: "Our thoughts remain with Harvey's family, friends and loved ones, as well as the wider school community as they come to terms with his loss. We understand that news of Harvey's death will have caused a considerable amount of shock and upset in the local community, and our officers will remain in the nearby area to offer reassurance to residents.
"If you have any concerns, please speak to them as they are there to help you in the wake of this awful tragedy. Our investigation into Harvey's death is continuing at pace and with this in mind, I would urge people to avoid unhelpful online speculation and identifying anyone who they believe to be involved in this tragic incident.
"Identifying a suspect can prejudice court proceedings and risks justice not being secured for Harvey and his family. We will take action against those who pose a risk to judicial proceedings and I want to remind people of their responsibility around what they share and post online and the potential impact it can have on justice."
