Ex-Premier League star Moise Kean was rushed to hospital on Sunday.
Kean, who now turns out for Fiorentina, was part of a Serie A clash against Hellas Verona when he was involved in a three-way collision during the second-half.
And moments after the collision, with Verona's Pawel Dawidowicz and Diego Coppola, Kean collapsed to the ground. Kean had suffered a clash of heads - and he was now sporting a big gash above his left eye.
Fiorentina medical staff bandaged him up - and he was able to re-enter the pitch. However, he shortly collapsed again and both teams signalled for a stretcher during the worrying scenes.
Kean, who once played for Everton in the Premier League, was fitted with a neck brace before he was taken into an ambulance and rushed to a local hospital.
In a statement, Fiorentina said: "ACF Fiorentina announces that the footballer Moise Kean, during the match against Verona, suffered a head trauma. The footballer is in hospital for tests."
Once play resumed, Verona snatched victory in stoppage time thanks to a goal from Antoine Bernede - leaving La Viola in sixth place, five points adrift of the top four.
Inter are currently top of the pile, and the title race had been blown open earlier on Sunday afternoon after Como stunned second-placed Napoli.
Kean joined Fiorentina in the summer, after previously spending four years at Everton between 2019 and 2023, and he has scored 19 goals in 29 appearances across all competitions for the club.
