Everton's Iliman Ndiaye forced off in tears after worrying injury vs Liverpool

Everton's Iliman Ndiaye couldn't hold back the tears as he was forced off injured against Liverpool.

David Moyes side welcomed Liverpool for the final Merseyside derby at Goodison Park on Wednesday evening. However, it wasn't a happy evening for the Toffees Senegalese forward.

Ndiaye appeared to jar his knee as he challenged Liverpool's Dominik Szoboszlai just before the 30 minute mark. There was a lengthy stoppage as Ndiaye received treatment before he attempted to walk off the pitch.

He was visibly in pain as Everton teammate Beto attempted to help. Ndiaye pulled his Everton shirt over his face, with the attacker seen in tears as Goodison Park applauded their hero off the pitch.

Jack Harrison was brought on by Moyes as Ndiaye walked down the tunnel.

"Feel so sorry for Iliman Ndiaye man. Pray it’s not serious he does not deserve this," one fan posted. While a second said: "Such a sad sight. Ndiaye’s one of my favourite players in the league and one of the most underrated this season."

"Wish him a speedy recovery. Never nice to see that," a third shared. And another added: "Ndiaye off injured, absolute disaster, not just for tonight but for our season..."

Everton and Liverpool had been level when Ndiaye was forced off - with Beto opening the scoring for the Toffees. However, they were pegged back almost instantly as Alexis Mac Alister headed level.

Liverpool had been hoping to go nine points clear at the summit of the Premier League table with a win over their most bitter of rivals.

Arsenal are currently six points behind, and Wednesday was Liverpool's game in hand over the Gunners
