Work has begun to build a block of affordable housing in Dover, Kent.
The eight new properties will be in Military Road, and will be made up of six one-bed flats, one two-bed flat and one two-bed wheelchair accessible flat.
They will be built with solar panels and heat pumps to reduce energy costs.
Pam Brivio, Dover District Council's cabinet member for housing, described the project as "breathing new life" into a vacant brownfield site.
She said: "Our residents deserve a secure and affordable place to call home, and I can't stress enough the positive and potentially life-changing impact this has on a person's life."
The authority said it had made affordable housing a priority following a survey of housing needs across the Deal and Dover areas carried out in 2023.
Other development sites include Napchester Road in Whitfield and Wingfield Place in Deal.
