A desperate search is underway for a teenage boy who went missing while swimming in a river on the south coast of NSW on New Year's Eve.
Two teenage boys, 15 and 16, went for a swim in Shoalhaven River at Burrier, 182km south of Sydney, around 6.30pm on Friday when the 15-year-old had difficulty.
The pair attempted to get back to shore, before the struggling boy disappeared under the water.
Emergency services, members of the public on personal vessels, police divers, and the Toll Rescue Helicopter helped search for the boy.
The search was suspended at 1:30am on Saturday but is due to resume Saturday morning and will involve similar resources.
